Transparent company review
Our bathroom remodeling matching standards
“Screened” should mean something specific. Before MyBathMatch sends a homeowner’s project information to a participating company, we review the items below. These checks reduce avoidable risk, but they are not a guarantee of workmanship, price, availability or project outcome.
Our pre-referral screening checklist
1. Business identity
We confirm the company’s operating name, primary contact, business contact information and the identity of the person authorized to receive homeowner requests.
2. Service-area and project fit
We confirm that the company actively serves the homeowner’s ZIP code and accepts the relevant bathroom-remodeling project type, scope and approximate timeline.
3. Applicable licensing
For North Carolina projects valued at $40,000 or more, state law requires an appropriate general contractor’s license. When a license is required for the stated project, we check the contractor’s information against the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors. Trade-specific work may involve additional licensed professionals and local permit requirements.
Verify a North Carolina general contractor license
4. Insurance evidence
We request current evidence of general liability insurance and, where applicable, workers’ compensation coverage. Homeowners should ask for project-specific proof and confirm coverage before signing a contract.
5. Reputation and references
We review available business history, recent customer feedback and material complaint or disciplinary information we can reasonably locate. We may request recent project references where appropriate.
6. Contact and conduct agreement
Participating companies must agree to use lead information only for the submitted project, contact the homeowner respectfully, avoid misleading claims and honor opt-out requests.
One-company sharing by default
MyBathMatch’s standard process shares a homeowner’s request with one screened company. If you request additional options, MyBathMatch will contact you and obtain confirmation before sharing your information with another company.
Ongoing review
Screening is a point-in-time review. We may request updated documentation, pause referrals, or remove a company when information expires, changes materially, or credible concerns arise.
Important homeowner responsibility
MyBathMatch does not supervise contractors or guarantee their work. Before hiring, independently confirm licensing and insurance, review references, compare the written scope and price, understand permits and warranties, and do not rely on an introduction as a substitute for your own evaluation.
Screening checklist at a glance
These checks must be documented before a company can receive homeowner project information.
Business identity
Operating name, contact details and the person authorized to receive requests.
Service and scope
Launch-area coverage and fit for the stated bathroom project.
Licensing
Applicable North Carolina licensing checked for the project and work involved.
Insurance evidence
Current liability evidence and workers’ compensation information where applicable.
Reputation signals
Available history, recent feedback and material complaints or discipline.
Conduct agreement
Responsible lead use, respectful contact, accurate claims and opt-out handling.
Important: Screening is a point-in-time review, not a guarantee. Homeowners should independently verify current credentials before hiring.
How screening is recorded
Before a company may receive homeowner project information, MyBathMatch creates a dated screening record. It identifies the company and authorized contact; records the ZIP codes and project types accepted; notes whether a North Carolina general-contractor license is applicable and the status checked; records insurance documents and expiration dates; captures reputation, reference and disciplinary checks; confirms the lead-use and contact rules; and records the decision, reviewer and next review date.
A record remains incomplete until each required item is supported or marked not applicable with a reason. MyBathMatch pauses referrals when required evidence expires or a material concern needs review. No company should be described as screened until its record is complete.
